PROJECT TITLE: DIRECT TO WORK (DTW) INITIATIVEGRANTEE REGION: ARCDELIVERABLES EXPECTED OUTCOMES.TOTAL PARTICIPANTS: 150PARTICIPANTS OBTAINING NEW OR ENHANCED EMPLOYMENT: 135INTENDED BENEFICIARIES.TARGET POPULATION: NEW ENTRANTS TO THE WORKFORCE, DISLOCATED WORKERS, VETERANS, AND FORMERLY INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALSAREAS TO BE SERVED: TOMPKINS COUNTY AND THE SURROUNDING 8-COUNTY SOUTHERN TIER OF NEW YORKS APPALACHIAN REGION.ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED.SUMMARY OF PROJECT: THIS GRANT WILL ACCELERATE AND EXPAND THE DTW INITIATIVE WITHIN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING AND ESTABLISH A SIMILAR PROGRAM WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION TRADES. ACROSS THE TWO INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS, IAED WILL ENGAGE 10 NEW EMPLOYERS (2 MANUFACTURERS AND 8 IN THE CONSTRUCTION TRADES). THE PRIORITIES, STRATEGIES, AND COMPONENTS OF THE DTW INITIATIVE DIRECTLY ADDRESS THE (1)APPALACHIAN REGIONAL COMMISSIONS NEW YORK APPALACHIAN DEVELOPMENT PLAN, (2) SOUTHERNTIER 8 REGIONAL BOARDS COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY, AND (3) TOMPKINSCOUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. ALL THREE PLANS PRIORITIZE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, SPECIFICALLY CREATING INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS THAT CONNECT UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS TO LIVING WAGES THAT OFFER CAREER ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES. IAED IS PERFECTLY SUITED TO ENGAGE WORKERS THAT ARE WILLING AND ABLE BUT OFTEN OVERLOOKED, INCLUDING WOMEN, BIPOC, AND THOSE FROM A LOWER SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS. THE DTW INITIATIVE IS A COMPREHENSIVE EFFORT TO LINK INDIVIDUALS TO CAREER PATHWAYS IN PRIORITY INDUSTRIES, HELP BUSINESSES FIND AND RETAIN SKILLED WORKERS, AND FOSTER ALIGNMENT AMONG PARTNERS.
