Complaint What Happened We took out a XXXX from NBT Bank XXXX XXXX NY in XXXX. The XXXX was a variable rate loan at the time. In XXXX of XXXX, we paid a fee to lock in the rate. I saw on our bank statement at the time that the bank took the money from our account to pay fee. At the time, it was 3.5 % fixed. I am not a savvy person ; I expected the bank to do their job. I recently noticed that we are paying a variable rate of 8.5 %. I contacted NBT Bank to see what happened. They said that they don't have record of the fixed rate being locked in, but they can see where they took the money for the processing fee to lock in the rate. I've tried to work with them to resolve the problem, but they are saying that they will not go back to that rate of 3.5 % because that is not the current rate. Even though they can see where they took the money required to lock in the fixed rate in XXXX of XXXX. I've asked if there is something we can do to fix the problem, but they just keep saying there is nothing they can do. This obviously, this all happened at the height of XXXX. We were not allowed to go to the bank. So, everything was done by email and fax with the bank. We have emails correspondence between us and the bank in XXXX of XXXX where we were receiving documents from XXXX. The final documents were sent to XXXX via Fax. I feel if they lost the documents or didn't fill them correctly, that is not my fault. All I want is to have the money refunded to me that I was over charged in interest and the rate locked in at 3.5 % as this is what we paid for in XXXX of XXXX.

Complaint What Happened On XX/XX/2022, my partner and I submitted a pre-qualification construction loan application for a house we auctioned for. Later that day, the loan originator sent us another link to start a pre-qualification process. This created two loan applications. The loan originator said he had canceled the first application, but the bank nonetheless made two hard inquiries on our credit reports, one on XX/XX/2022, and another one on XX/XX/2022. On XX/XX/2022, we followed up with the loan originator and asked him about this since we never authorized two hard inquiries. We again followed up on XX/XX/2022, when he said he had sent this to upper management. We again followed up on XX/XX/2022. On XX/XX/2022, he just responded that he had " sent this on a while ago. '' On XX/XX/XXXX, he said he would send it to their credit agency representative to ask for removal. On XX/XX/XXXX, we called the three major credit agencies, and only XXXX took it off the credit report. However, XXXX and XXXX required a letter from NBT Bank specifically requesting the removal. We sent him that via email, and we tried calling the bank several times, but we could not get ahold of someone that would talk to us about it. They only took our information and never called back. The loan originator never responded to our email. So now we have an additional credit inquiry that shouldn't be there and a bank that won't help us.

Complaint What Happened Per original complaint XXXX, which I can no longer access because it was closed based on the " goodwill gesture '' of NBT Bank on XXXX XXXX XXXX I was provided with the following statement ( See below & attachment ) : QUOTE : Therefore, as a goodwill gesture, we will be removing the repossession from your credit history and we are working to eliminate the remaining balance of the loan. You can consider this letter as evidence that there is no longer a deficiency balance and your loan is considered paid in full. We hope that in the future, should a similar situation present itself, you would speak with members of our collections and/or customer service teams to keep us informed of your situation and allow us the opportunity to work through the challenges and avoid repossession altogether. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX MONETARY RELIEF AMOUNT {$3300.00} Instead, the debt was reported AGAIN after this as a repossession at the close of that month dropping my credit score again. After nearly 3 months with no intervention on the company 's part, I submitted a dispute with credit agencies using this document provided by XXXX XXXX as " evidence '' for removal from my credit report. Instead of the result of the dispute being a removal, NBT 's response, despite furnishing the credit agencies with this document from the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX as it was presented in the original complaint through the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, was to immediately report the debt TWICE in ONE WEEK as DELINQUENT ACCOUNT, DEROGATORY, COLLECTION/CHARGE OFF, amount owing ( TWO different amounts on TWO different days - See attached ), which dropped my credit score with XXXX ANOTHER XXXX points!! XXXX is showing recent delinquent reporting from NBT ( see attached ) - actual score will be updated within a week. XXXX Dispute is currently still pending. I shudder to think what the end result of that will be. There are hardly words.

Complaint What Happened XX/XX/year> I was charged {$750.00} on my debit card online for XXXX tickets to a basketball game in Arizona. I live in NY. This transaction was not authorized by me and my debit card information was compromised. I immediately disabled my card and reported it to my bank. They submitted the transaction for dispute. My bank ( XXXX ) gave me provisional funds to cover the transaction while the dispute took place. I contacted XXXX and they said they escalated the transaction to their security team. They asked for information I wasn't comfortable providing. I asked my bank if I should provide this information and they said I should not. I asked both my bank and XXXX to stop the transaction while it was pending. They both said they could not and I'll have to wait until it has been taken from my account. XX/XX/year> I received a letter from NBT Bank stating that they have determined the transaction was authorized and the provisional funds will be revoked on XX/XX/year>. XX/XX/year> approximately XXXX I sent an email to XXXX requesting documents supporting the determination of the dispute.

Complaint What Happened I was a XXXX independent consultant who purchased jewelry and accessories from XXXX XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX- XX/XX/XXXX. This company advertised the jewelry as lead and nickel free. I have asked them to provide me with their test results proving that the jewelry is lead and nickel free and they have refused. I asked them to refund my money and they have refused. The jewelry has since been tested by a 3rd party accredited lab and it shows very high levels of lead and nickel which is not compliant with California Prop 65 guidelines.

Complaint What Happened I have a joint checking account with my XXXX XXXX XXXX son that he uses primarily to deposit his part time job paycheck, go out to lunch with his friends, etc. His account balance was low, and when he purchased a coffee he was charged an overdraft fee ( {$35.00} ) by the bank. I explained to him that he needed to keep track of his balance better so as to avoid such fees in the future. Although he kept track of his actual purchases, existing debits that were set up via XXXX, as well as attempts to pay and be paid by his friends through XXXX, resulted in multiple additional {$35.00} fees for both overdraft charges and, when the balance became less than XXXX, insufficient funds fees ( also {$35.00} ) - the latter even though the bank did not actually pay the amounts on his behalf. Ultimately, there were more than {$350.00} in bank fees charged for less than {$50.00} of claimed and attempted purchases. I called the bank to ask them to stop all activity on the account in order to stop the accumulation of additional fees. They advised that they couldn't do that - I needed to go to the branch in person to close the account. After taking off work for an afternoon to visit the branch, they advised me that I first needed to pay the accumulated fees before they would agree to close the account. In other words, they refused to close the account and prevent the assessment of additional fees, which continued to accumulate for several weeks after I tried to close the account. As of today, the bank has also prevented me from accessing two other unrelated accounts that I have, claiming that I must first pay the accumulated overdraft and insufficient funds fees on my son 's account before I can obtain access to money I have in the other accounts.

Complaint What Happened Our mortgage lender NBT Bank has denied us access to government programs to help struggling homeowners and we are now in the first stages of foreclosure. My husband and I bought our home with a USDA loan and live here with our XXXX boys, ages XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. We had financial struggles during Covid and contacted our lender NBT Bank to see if they could offer any type of help. The agent was rude and condescending and said there were no programs except for find a way to pay us or we will take your house. I was not able to work due to Covid shutting down my position and we did not know about the CARES act forbearance and did not know that there were any loan modification programs for distressed homeowners and NBT Bank did not want to tell us about any options. We were very frightened and had to apply for a loan from my husband 's 401K to get caught up, a loan we are still having to make payments on from my husbands check. After getting caught up and going back to work we had no problems with payments for about a year until I got XXXX and it was a XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX and the doctor told me I needed to stay off my feet and again we lost my income and the good news now we have a healthy XXXX XXXX XXXX son but it was hard to keep up with the mortgage payments. We contacted NBT Bank to see if they would work with us on the payments or if they could help us, and they said we would have to pay 100 % of missed payments and late fees and legal fees or they would put us into foreclosure. We just got letter from Attorney last week and we are now in foreclosure. My husband has a good job, he has worked as a XXXX and is now the XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX at the local XXXX XXXX. I had been working as a XXXX XXXX but when Covid came they shut down my district for XXXX. A few months after I went back to work I became pregnant and we lost my income again. At this time my husband has taken a second job working as a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. We no longer have a problem with the mortgage payment, the only issue is that NBT Bank is telling us we need to pay them {$15000.00} in one payment or we are going to lose our house. We now know that NBT Bank is required as a servicer of a USDA loan to consider us for several different distressed homeowner options which they have told us did not exist in the past.

Complaint What Happened Was notified by XXXX that NBT Bancorp, XXXX, NY, has reported my auto loan as 30 days past due delinquent, severely impacting my credit score. I contacted NBT and was informed that my account is current and should not have been reported to XXXX as delinquent. Was told that the bank is aware of a problem occurring with credit reporting, but representative was unwilling to commit to correcting my records with the XXXX. This has resulted in credit issuers threatening to reduce my credit limits and impose higher interest rates for existing credit card accounts.

Complaint What Happened I bought a car and the dealership did the loan through NBT Bank. NBT Bank charged me twice for the first month for my car payment. They took {$390.00} on XX/XX/XXXX and {$390.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. After calling XXXX times and not getting the issue resolved, I disputed the second charge with my bank ( XXXX ). On XX/XX/XXXX they charged me a {$20.00} fee for revoking the second payment. I have called XXXX more times. A representative claimed that there was an internal and external payment set up and she deleted the second one. That apparently wasn't true as the XXXX time I called both payments were still set up. This XXXX representative claimed the second payment was deleted and I could put in a request to get my {$20.00} back, but based on the fact I've had to call them XXXX times to try to get a normal monthly autopay set up and they can not figure it out, I highly doubt they'll get it together. I want the {$20.00} back and I want confirmation they will just take XXXX monthly payment a month ( they can use the external payment set up ).
