I recently noticed that Earnest had been applying debits and credit to my account labeled " adjustments ''. The credited amounts always equalled the debited amounts, they cancelled each other out, so it didn't raise any red flags to me. But then I noticed a debited " adjustment '' to my loan account in the amount of {$87.00} -- and there was no credit to offset it, so I called Earnest in XX/XX/XXXX to flag this. I auto-pay my student loan monthly and have a fixed interest rate so there's no reason for my account to be charged a fee of any kind.
The explanation I received from the Earnest customer service representative was that the " adjustment '' charges were the result of me overpaying interest, and that in XX/XX/XXXX my account started being refunded/ credited back for those overpayments. The representative also said that I should have received a check in the mail in XX/XX/XXXX for {$3.00} which represented another refund " adjustment ''. Once I pointed out that I saw no evidence of my account being refunded at all in XXXX or XXXX, nor had I received any checks in the mail from Earnest, they backtracked on their explanation ( email excerpts below ).
Unfortunately Earnest 's explanation was very vague given loan repayment is a process that should be carefully documented. Especially given Earnest is servicing a student loan that is valued at close to $ XXXX. It doesnt make sense to me that when I have a fixed interest rate Earnest cant properly calculate the interest payment each month.

I apologize for all of the confusion, I was not aware that they could do this. Please let us know if you have any further questions. '' Me on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX PT : " When was that done? I dont see it as an adjustment anywhere in my loan history.
Thanks, '' Earnest on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX PT : " Hi XXXX, The original refund was initiated back on XX/XX/XXXX. You will then see the adjustments to make the refund the correct amount in the adjustments that were done between XXXX and XXXX. The total refund amount that was applied to your principal balance was the {$3.00}.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions. "

I refinanced a student loan with XXXX that was previously serviced by Earnest Operations LLC. The payoff check that was purportedly sent from XXXX to Earnest on XXXX XXXX, 2024, but never arrived according to Earnest, and now I am forced to pay balances on both loans. XXXX will not delay payments, nor will they help in anyway other than stating the check was sent and advising me to wait. Further, XXXX does not have any tracking number as the check was allegedly sent XXXX Mail via XXXX according to the loan agreement. Earnest will not confirm receipt of the payment, and XXXX is stating that it was actually sent via ACH although my loan agreement states otherwise. Both companies have been extremely unhelpful.

Approximately XXXX months ago I requested XXXX to stop contacting me, as I am unable at that present time to make a payment, I will call them when I have the financial means. The calls never stopped to me, and they started to call extended family, my parents, siblings, and my wifes family, among others Im sure theyve contacted. They told my Aunt, whom my family hasnt spoken to in XXXX years, they were XXXX trying to collect a debt, looking for me.
They have sent several letters threatening to escalate the situation and potentially sue me. Giving me deadlines that have kept getting pushed back, so nothing more than empty threats.
Which brings me to the day of XX/XX/XXXX. I sent an email demanding them to stop contacting me immediately after another threatening email.
They responded XX/XX/XXXX, stating it may take XXXX days to get into their system, but they will cease communications.
Only they havent. Given their XXXX day request, they have called XXXX times. The dates they called are ; XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, please note dates that are XXXX are XXXX calls on those days.
This is on top of the hundreds of calls theyve given me since my request over the phone to stop.
They are harassing me and breaking the law, and Im not sure what else to do.

I refinanced nearly {$54000.00} in student loan debt with a company called earnest. I made a mistake in taking up service with earnest. It's not a good fit. I realized immediately on a Sunday. I called Monday and they were closed for XXXX XXXX. So, I called immediately as they opened on XX/XX/XXXX. Well within my rightful timeframe of 3 business days to cancel. I was assured it was all taken care of. About a week later I received an email stating the funds were being sent to the servicers. I called immediately and they blamed it on an anomaly in their system. 3 days later I still have no update.

Earnest - the student loan refinancing company - is refusing to stop sending me mail offering their services. They are IGNORING my opt out notice which I have put in place three separate times. I have contacted the company to tell them this several times. They ignore my requests mostly and respond rudely when they choose to answer. They continue to harass me with mailers at my home address.

I refinanced my student loans with Earnest. Today they sent out an email that they are changing how auto payments can be scheduled. According to them : " Starting on XX/XX/XXXX, biweekly Auto Pay will not be available. '' To top it off, changes to Auto Pay now have to go through contacting customer service instead of being managed directly online.
Effectively Earnest is going to make loans harder for everyone to pay. I enjoy my biweekly auto payments because it helps me pay everything off faster.
The email reads : " Moving forward, Auto Pay can only be scheduled for the XXXX of any given monthother days will not be supported. If your current Auto Pay date falls within that range, no action is required. If it falls outside this range, please sign in to your Earnest account by XX/XX/XXXX to choose your desired payment date between the XXXX and XXXX. If your XXXX Auto Pay date is outside the supported range on XX/XX/XXXX, your payment will be automatically pushed to XX/XX/XXXX.
After XX/XX/XXXX, changes to your Auto Pay dates must be made directly with our XXXX XXXX team, rather than through your client dashboard. Well keep you posted once you can do so through your dashboard.
Starting on XX/XX/XXXX, biweekly Auto Pay will not be available. Any clients paying twice per month are requested to sign in to their Earnest account to select a new monthly payment schedule. If you dont do so by XX/XX/XXXX, the system will automatically select a payment date that will be at least a month after your last biweekly payment. We are exploring a number of alternative biweekly payment options between now and XX/XX/XXXX. We will update this Help Center article in the coming weeks once we have settled on a solution.

I have applied for personal loan in the amount of {$10000.00} with XXXX XXXX company in order to pay my medical bills not covered by insurance and other expenses ( I need to help my elderly parents, car repair, home improvement ). I provided all requested information. My application was declined.
Based on the advertisement of their product, my credit history, my financial standing and amount of loan to my income ratio, my application should have been approved : - I am a salaried professional with steady income, working for over 20 years in the industry - I have a good credit history with some of the FICO scores like XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX with average XXXX at the time of the application ) which is higher than national median and higher than the score Earnest advertised as acceptable - I don't have any credit card debt ( practically XXXX ) I don't carry balances over and typically balance is almost XXXX - I have 18 years old credit history with only one installment loan paid on time, I have a record of paying off the mortgage - I don't have bankruptcy on file, never filed for bankruptcy in the past The amount of loan to income ratio was very low - less than 10 % ( I also have all benefits including medical insurance, vacation, life insurance ) - I have assets : a ). a saving account ( in the amount substantially covering the amount of loan requested ).
b ). I own a car with no lien on it This proves my ability to save and provides liquid funds for emergency - I have lived at the current address for over 6 years - I have a good driving record - I am young enough to make all installment payments and pay the loan off But my application was declined, therefore I have concluded that I was profiled by the criteria that has nothing to do with financial risk and would like to complain to CFPB about this lending discrimination on behalf of Earnest apparently based on my social status or ethnic/religious group that I belong to and I want CFPB to investigate the fact that these very criteria was used by Earnest to decline my application

I have a loan with Earnest. In my account I have selected an option to reduce the amount of my minimum payment when I make additional payments. With that setting I have made twice monthly payments summing to the amount I owe. I've done this since XX/XX/2019. Recently I decided to take advantage of a small interest discount by enrolling in autopay. I was enrolled in autopay for only 3 days when I saw that my preference to have additional payments applied to my next payment was nullified by the autopay program. Now the company refuses to adjust my next payment and leaves me unable to afford the payment as a result. I expressed to the representative I spoke to that this policy had made the payment unaffordable for me and they continue to do nothing. Until now I have always made my payment on time and in full.

On XX/XX/2017, I logged into my online account with Earnest, a student loan refinancing company, for the first time approximately 2 years. In my account, I found two documents (a credit card statement and a student loan document) that belong to another individual living in XXXX, NC. This is clearly a violation of their privacy policy and it is unclear whether my documents are sitting in someone else's account. I called the company to report the privacy violation, and spoke with a customer service rep that was unfamiliar with how to handle this and said I would be contacted once the issue is resolved.
