Citation text line 29 CFR 1926.651(b)(1):The estimated location of underground utility installations, such as sewer, telephone, fuel, electric, water lines, or any other underground installations that reasonably may be expected to be encountered during excavation work, were not determined prior to opening an excavation. a) Worksite, parking lot, westside of commercial structure: On or about August 17, 2020, employees were exposed to electric shock hazards from underground high voltage power lines while digging to locate an underground electrical components. Permits were not obtained in advance to mark underground utilities installations. Note: Because abatement of this violation is already documented in the case file, the employer need not submit certification or documentation of abatement for this violation as normally required by CFR 1903.19.
