| Activity Description: | Actor Lynne Lambert had the idea for NYC SUBWAY LINE in 1995. While waiting for a subway at Boro Hall, Brooklyn, she looked up at the subway sign with its big, green #4 and #5 circles and thought how these familiar generic circles with their numbers and letters, were like the wallpaper of The City. With a son turning five years old, it occurred to Lynne that if there were a #5 train tee shirt, she would have a great birthday gift for all of her son's friends who would also be turning five that year. Or, an #A train tee for Ali, #R for Rory, and so forth. Lynne thought the subways should be wearable, and contacted the MTA to obtain a license to do just that! Prak Productions, Inc has had the MTA license for 24 years now. The company first shipped in November of 1996. Prak customers, such as Macys, Museum of the City of New York, The City Store, Top of the Rock, F.A.O. Schwarz, the NY Transit Museum stores and others, inspired Lynne to add in hats, bags, backpacks, travel accessories and many other items to the product line as the years went by. Always a favorite of both tourists and New Yorkers who love NYC, these NYC Subway Line items have been worn by celebrities, featured in magazines, newspapers and used as wardrobe in movies, TV and music videos. Lynne’s unique business story has also been told on Donny Deutch’s “The Big Idea,” CBS News, “Bagels and Broadway” and WOR radio shows as well as in many print articles. Prak's current array of products can be viewed at www.NYCSubwayLine.net. Over the years, Prak had been asked to make similar products for other locales. The most requested imagery was maps. Buyers wanted products with maps of their own transit system, town, state or city. Lynne decided there would be a good business making promotional products with maps on them. Launching in 2018, Prak's new brand, MAP'T GEAR, offers something truly unique in the world of corporate gifts, employee appreciation gifts and event giveaways. Instead of producing products with a mere company logo, MAP'T GEAR creates products which feature a company's location, the location of one or all its outposts, or of its meeting on a decorative, completely customized map. MAP'T GEAR's current product line of messenger bags, padfolios, tees, drinkware and totes are handsome items which will actually be used or worn, unlike the majority of promotional gift items which are often tossed or donated as unwanted company advertisements.
