IN ADDITION, THE AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL LEVERAGE APPROXIMATELY 1,584 VOLUNTEERS WHO WILL BE ENGAGED IN VARIOUS CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES RANGING FROM SUPPORTING TEACHERS PREPARING FOR SERVICE-LEARNING PROJECTS TO DIRECTLY ASSISTING STUDENTS WITH LESSONS. THIS PROGRAM WILL FOCUS ON THE CNCS FOCUS AREA OF EDUCATION BY IMPROVING THE EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES OF ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS IN LOW-ACHIEVING ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS.
