29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Except as provided by paragraph (a)(3) of this section, each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level shall be protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems or fall restraint systems: a) East side of building, from the northeast corner of building to southeast corner of building, on or about 5-3-21: Four employees were installing metal decking, without fall protection, exposing the employees to a fall hazard of 16 feet 5 inches up to 17 feet 11 inches to the gravel and/or asphalt pavement below. b) East side of building, center section, on or about 5-3-21: Four employees were installing metal decking to a roof, over a floor pit below, without fall protection, exposing the employees to a fall hazard of 15 feet 1 inch to the interior floor pit. |
