29 CFR 1926.405(g)(1)(iii)(A): Employer did not ensure temporary flexible extension cords were not used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure; Location: 123 William Street, New York, NY 10038, Ground Floor Lobby behind Newspaper Stand. A). During renovation project effecting the Lobby area of the first floor, employees had utilized a flexible extension cord drawing power from a hard wired, square metal "1900" junction box, and wired directly into the bare, exposed wires to energize the exhaust fan of the Newspaper Stand. Employees working/walking within the renovation area of the lobby were exposed to electrical shock/burn hazards because the electrical feed to the 1900 recepticle box (unsecured and laying on the floor), was pulled from teh junction opening and clamp and exposed wires were visible.
