Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. a) On or about 6/07/13 at residential construction site, 91 Lancaster Ave., Buffalo, NY: An employee installing Shake siding on the gable of the house while standing on the roof was exposed to a fall of approx. 22 foot. The pitch of the roof was approx. 8 in 12. Slide guards were installed along the roof edge. No guardrail system, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system was utilized. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED |
