Employees shall be allowed to work on those surfaces only when the surfaces have the requisite strength and structural integrity. a) Abandoned building at the north side of jobsite: Employees accessed a 3-story abandoned building to get on suspended scaffolds for work. The employer did not inspect or determine if the floors and roof of the abandoned building, which employees walked and worked on, have the strength and structural integrity to support employees safely. An area on the roof collapsed during work, and an employee fell through the roof and floor holes of the abandoned building to the cellar level. On or about 04/20/12. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT FOR THIS ITEM.
