TASK 2.1 DESIGN OF THE NOZZLE JOINT ATK TASKS (WBS 2.0) BEGIN WITH A DESIGN FOR THE NOZZLE JOINT. ATK SHALL DEVELOP A MECHANICAL DESIGN OF SUFFICIENT DETAIL FOR THERMAL AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF THE JOINT. THE MECHANICAL DESIGN PART FILES SHALL ENABLE THERMAL/STRUCTURAL AND COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (CFD) ANALYSTS TO WORK ON A CONSISTENT GEOMETRY. TASK 2.2 SOLID MODEL OF THE NOZZLE EXTENSION AT THREE DIFFERENT POSITIONS THE NASA-OPTIMIZED CONTOURS SHALL BE USED TO DEVELOP THE MECHANICAL DESIGN OF THE NOZZLE EXTENSION. THE PATTERN SHALL BE LAID OUT AND MECHANICAL DESIGNS SHALL BE CREATED FOR 3 DIFFERENT POSITIONS. THESE PART FILES WILL BE USED IN THE CFD, THERMAL, AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSES OF THE NOZZLE EXTENSION IN DIFFERENT NOZZLE SHAPES. THE ALRJ-51 SCRAMJET ENGINE GROUND TEST PROGRAM CONSISTS OF TWO SEPARATE GROUND TESTS OF THE ALRJ-51-4 ENGINE. ONE OF THESE TWO ENGINE TESTS WILL OCCUR IN THE 8 FOOT HIGH TEMPERATURE TUNNEL AT THE NASA LANGLEY RESEARCH CENTER IN FY 2011. THE GOAL OF THE TESTING IN THE TWO FACILITIES IS TO IDENTIFY SCALING INTERACTIONS THAT CAN AFFECT SCRAMJET ENGINE PERFORMANCE DATA. THE TESTING IS JOINTLY SPONSORED BY THE DOD, AFRL, AND NASA IN SUPPORT OF OUR COMMON GOAL TO BE ABLE TO EFFECTIVELY GROUND TEST MUCH LARGER SCALE SCRAMJET ENGINES THAT WILL BE CONSTRUCTED FOR FUTURE VEHICLES. THE ENGINE DESIGN CONSISTS OF A CIRCULAR FLOWPATH CROSS-SECTIONAL GEOMETRY AND AFT-SWEPT INLET SIDEWALL LEADING EDGES WITH A VEHICLE INTEGRATED PLANAR INLET RAMP AND ENGINE NOZZLE. THE ENGINE WAS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO INTEGRATE INTO AN EXISTING AIR FORCE DEVELOPED AIRFRAME WHICH HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY TESTED AT LANGLEY RESEARCH CENTER. THE ENGINE OPERATES ON JP-7 WITH A SILANE ASSISTED LIGHT-OFF, AND A CLOSE COUPLED FUEL DISTRIBUTION. THE PURPOSE OF THIS TASK ORDER IS TO OBTAIN A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN AND ANALYSIS STUDY RESULTS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE ENGINE ON THE PREVIOUSLY TESTED HARDWARE LISTED ABOVE, AS WELL AS COST AND MANUFACTURING SCHEDULES, AND IDENTIFICATION OF LONG LEAD MATERIALS. IN THE CONTEXT OF THIS TASK, LONG LEAD SIGNIFIES FOUR WEEKS OR GREATER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONDUCT A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN AND ANALYSIS STUDY TO GENERATE A COST AND MANUFACTURING SCHEDULE AND IDENTIFY LONG LEAD MATERIAL PURCHASES FOR THE FOLLOWING: A.
