I took a personal loan with Mariner Finance which was being paid successfully and they were soliciting me to get a larger loan which I subsequently did in XXXX of XXXX. However, when Covid hit my income took an initial hit so my payment payment started to fall behind. However I was regularly attempting to make payments online but their payment processor would not accept a single payment it would only accept the " full amount due '' which included the past due amount, current amount and upcoming amount due. As a result a payment that would have been 30 days late snowballed into an inability to make any payments. During this time the Mariner Offices were shut down and there was a complete inability to reach anyone to rectify the situation. You had to call the office and leave a message and wait until someone got back to you. On the 3 occasions my call was returned it was either at night when I wasn't available or the call was returned by someone from another branch ( than the one my loan originated from ) that couldn't help me. This went on for months - as evidenced by my credit history Mariner was the only account this was occurring with after the initial issue, as I was making payments on all my other accounts. They never contacted me by mail or phone to work to resolve the issue but only sent me monthly emails saying my account was behind and to contact the branch ( with just the branch 's number ) in order to address. This was despite the fact the branch was closed and then apparently only open on a limited basis without publicized hours. Despite the fact that I was seriously falling behind, in XXXX of XXXX they sent me an email that I was pre-approved for an additional loan that matched the amount I was behind on the current loan ( {$910.00} ) which is clearly predatory lending in my opinion. On XX/XX/XXXX I got an email that I needed to contact them by XX/XX/XXXX to discuss my options. But once again I was given the number of the branch that told me there was nothing they could do. Despite that I attempted to call the branch again when I received the email on XX/XX/XXXX but got no answer on XX/XX/XXXX and they were closed for the holiday on XX/XX/XXXX. So I sat and waited for someone to contact me from the " central collections '' to address the issue. I got XXXX communication from anyone via mail, phone call or email until XXXX XXXX when I was sent an email with the number for central collections. I called the number on XX/XX/XXXX as soon as I saw the email. Despite only a single email and the fact that I contacted them immediately I was told that it was too late that they had already charged my account off and I would need to wait to hear from a collections agency. On XX/XX/XXXX I was contacted by a 3rd party collection company that represented Mariner and was offered a settlement which would consider my account paid in full and which I took and the account was paid within 30 days. However as I paid it immediately there was no reported collection activity on my credit and so it continues appears to be an unpaid collection. To add insult to injury Mariner is not only not reporting it as paid but they are listing the date of the charge off back to XXXX of XXXX despite my numerous attempts to rectify the issue during XXXX. I wrote to Mariner and requested that they at least list my account as a paid charge off and they failed to respond. I believe that Mariner participated in predatory lending by encouraging me to take a second larger loan to pay off the first loan and by offering me a " guaranteed loan '' of the amount that I was behind on the current loan thereby attempting to get additional interest in bringing my current loan up to date. I believe that they caused the default of my loan by refusing to accept single payments and providing no other options to attempt to bring the loan current and the inability to successfully contact their company due to their complete shut down during Covid. Lastly I call into question the accuracy of their accounting and credit reporting practices since they contacted me from Mariner XXXX XXXX in XXXX of XXXX to discuss payment and assistance options but yet are reporting that the account was charged off in XXXX of XXXX and in fact the account was paid off in XXXX of XXXX. In XXXX I was looking for a loan to pay my daughter 's tuition for a private school I came across Mariner Finance in XXXX of XXXX They agreed to give me a XXXX unsecured loan but if I wanted the XXXX that I requested I would need to use my car as a collateral. Of course I was in need of the XXXX which they were aware of so I went with the XXXX and use my XXXX XXXX accord as collateral. My car at the time valued around XXXX when I did a XXXX XXXX XXXX estimate but they valued it at a lower price. With that being said I also read online where if you have a secured loan and use a car as a collateral your interest rate should be lowered. My payments are {$190.00} a month which I have paid over XXXX already which most of the money have went to interest Early this week I decided to get a pay off amount so I can pay off the balance but realized the pay off balance was over {$5000.00} after 8 months of payments. My credit score at the time was XXXX. They gave me a 24.97 % interest rate on top of using my car as collateral. I feel Mariner Finance took advantage of my need for a loan and Usury does apply in this situation.

so in late XXXX of XXXX i crashed my car and needed to get together a decent chunk of money to get the ball rolling on my new vehicle purchase, which needed to be done ASAP since i rely on my car extensively for work and personal purposes. being strapped for other options i looked into loans (having already received one from Mariner FInance in XXXX) again as much as i didnt want to. After looking at what XXXX XXXX said was a guaranteed approval i received a call from Mariner FInance in probably 5 miuntes.. They started their spiel only to stop themselves noticing i already had an account and asked if id like to increase my current loan amount because i was in near perfect standing with payments so i qualified to do so....Thought about it on Friday night at work XXXX XXXX XXXX and they reached back to me the following morning....having no other options i decided to go ahead with the appointment set for monday the XXXX.
now its monday XXXX XXXX im still second guessing this and running late the the appointment they call twice and i told them i would be there ASAP having gone to the XXXX i XXXX to get it ready for dinner service. i arrive maybe a half hour late and they brin me into the room in the center of the office shut the door and they already have stuff set up for me just need to get some signtures. so they ask things like do you have any changed assets from your original list of valuables this was an unsecured loan initilaly when i got the first loan in XXXX of XXXX (not anymore obviously if my car got wrecke) only had to take my car off the list of valuables, asked if it was a loan for a car obvioisly i just said that. and chaged my address okay filled all of this out and they said theyd print me up a copy and itd be all good to go and hand me acheck....so they do.....fast forward to XXXX. im having difficulty paying the oan on top of my car loan itsself and other things....they take note and helped me a little bit that month...then XXXX same thing and they started to call asking for payments and i would say ok auto deduct it from this account and werer good so they do that...well apparently i didnt find out untilend of may beginning of XXXX that i had missed any payments...i was so busy with XXXX XXXX that i literallysome how missed payments beign taken out ofmy account and receiving overdraft fees but then having the withdrawals returned it looked no different to me....i thpught theloan was paid.....nope i was wrong now iits end of XXXX and i get an ugly call from Mariner saying in essence im lying theyve been trying to get ahold of me for months i do not recal or have any missed calls or anything from them....and this last call only came after i recevied a letter in the mail saying its going to be going to an attorneys now..confused i wiated for them to clal me at this point they said i could pay for the whole loan off and thats it...they refused to take an partial payments no matter the amount. so they said our lawyerrs will be handing this now have a good day.
furioius i went trough and searched for the updated contract..they hid under neath all the paperwork i updated paperwork that i did sign yes but absolutely did not have a chance to read thoruoughly because NOONE not once told me that my original loan would actually be closed and that a new loan would be opened and then id be given essentially a new loan for the larger amount....but only receiving a check for the difference....thats odd, and how is this legal at al?!?
So no only doesmy credit get affeced by them closing an account but then they do another inuiry on me and then open another account or a larger sum. but i only have been given much less and now a new account with ZERO credit history to be used in case something such as missing a payment or partial payments etc. instead it looks like on my credit report that the account was just closed in XXXX abruptly and. a new one opened that same month. and actually now looking back at my history it says my initial loan was secured....i have no idea what would have been secured as collateral as i had nothing to offer up and they knew this thats why i chose them in XXXX because it. was unsecured...
so XXXX XXXX account closed saying it was secure loan just says closed
XXXX XXXX account opened up to date having only 1 payment on it updated on XXXX XXXX but theres nothign on my credit report until almost XXXX about it now showing an original balance of XXXX and a new balance or $XXXX more than the XXXX balance..... why was this not continued as the original loan as to preserve credit history and ability to receive help in case of payment porblems? and how come it was missing from my reports for a month and i cannot get an aanswer from them otehr than you signed the paperwork but were givign you to our lawyers now.....now that phone call was in end of XXXX maybe first week of XXXX .... i get a cal from the attorneys office stating i am being sued by them and i will be recevings papers shortly...about 2 wees goes by its now middle XXXX and i get a guy serving me papers from them....i did not answer the door nor take any of the paperwork he tried to leave i said he needs to get off my property and to leave his firearm in his car while he retrieves teh paperwork. refused to comply to that. now i get a lettter in the mail on the firs monday in XXXX. dated for XXXX XXXX? stating i was to report to court by XXXX XXXX or something....and if i want to file somethign or other i must do it before XXXX date...but the only issue is the orignal letter was dated for early XXXX then the mail was stamped in late XXXX AFTER the court date had already passed. and im pretty sure the guy came about a week after the initial clal with lawyers. so as to gie me about a week for anything. but my refusal to accept any parperwork from him should not be delaying in any credit or bankruptcy litigation speed of service....so how was this now new creditor (their attorney) able to harrase me like this so quikly then immediately sue me for the money? his excuse poor credit history with the loan and the ammount borrowed....THEY closed the account and THEY ade it a new one and MADE it seem like i had no credit history now because THEY KNEW iwas in a pinch and that i would not be able to make payments epecially so after i told them i wouldnt be in XXXX id need help to.
i know this is a huge what eems rant but i have no other way to get my point across or to try and get my story to the right people to help me. and because of thi my credit dropped over 200 points because of this situation adn then cuased me to start missing other payments so MARINER FINANCE is the big name thing i guess i have al the contracts etc if needed.

XXXX. I can not access my account online, via telephone, nor via the app, despite MANY attempts to resolve the lockout issue Mariner Finance has.
2. Mariner Finance offers payment via phone according to the loan documents signed at time of loan, but charges an additional cost to make the payment, IF the payment function is operational ( not likely operational ).
3. Mariner Finance does not respond to voice mails, or return phone calls, that is IF a client happens to get an answer from a telephone call to their office. ( Someone picking up the phone is RARE - if your call IS answered, Mariner Finance will put you on hold, after which, the line disconnects ).
XXXX. They do not answer their telephone during NORMAL business hours, specified on their company voicemail AND company website.
XXXX. Mariner Finance delays withdraw of automatic payments for weeks on end.
XXXX. Mariner Finance offers more loans, often via email and spam calling, despite clients requests to pay off their existing loan.
XXXX. Mariner Finance fails to adjust loan balances after payments are made.
XXXX. Mariner Finance is often not in the office, during normal business hours according to their listed times at the location.
XXXX. My latest attempt to contact Mariner Finance at the telephone number provided on their business DOOR and website, was answered by a female who hung up on me stating, We are closing, call back. This response was received during their normal business hours.

I had no choice but to get a vehicle at the time I did because my car broke down so I had to go to a car lot that had used cars that were affordable so at about XXXX my father and I were approved together to get a SUV which was around {$9000.00} with a XXXX down payment in a car payment of XXXX a month I paid the car payment faithfully every month on time up until the end of XXXX about XXXX the car broke down and was not fixable at least it was not affordable for me I tried to work with the creditor and explain the car was not fixable on my end I was told I did not matter they were very unprofessional and not willing to work with me in any way I had no choice but to get another vehicle in much I have to go through someone else..But Mariner finance being the original creditor for the first car had the car picked up not long after which I had no problem with and understood. We are now in XXXX I have several times try to talk to the company I have been threatened that I will never have credit again they will do whatever it takes to ruin my credit they they run hard inquiries whenever they feel like it they have an amount more than with a car was ever Worth or what my loan ever consisted of they did not take an account the down payment that was put down on the car or the 2 years of paying {$240.00} a month they sold the vehicle for a decent amount and they are constantly reporting even though it says the account has been closed as of the end of XXXX I believe they are running hard inquiries to try to keep my credit from getting better they're constantly every month doing something with my account I don't understand how it says the account has been closed but yet I am continuously getting updates of things they are doing on my account and like I said I have talked to them several times and ask them why they keep doing this and they laugh and think it's funny and tell me that they're going to ruin me and don't expect to ever have good credit again it will never happen we will make sure of that I am a single mother of three on social security I can not pay them I do not have the ability to pay them and I believe it is 100 % unjust completely for them to keep running hard inquiries and keep updating different amounts way way above what the car originally was worth we're bought for this company is very unprofessional how are we supposed to ever trust creditors with our personal information when they use it for harassment this has to be based off trust and I have lost all trust it is absolutely wrong that these companies can do what they want with our personal information any day I need this resolved if I am allowed to press charges I want to I would like to know what my options are and I hope somebody could get back to me because I want to go as far as I can to get what is fair the stress this company has caused me is unbelievable every time I see the name cross my phone notifications I feel like I can't breathe they should not be allowed to ever do the things they do and get away with it..!!!

I took out a loan for a used vehicle from Mariner Finance. The company worked with me until the vehicle got to a point that it always had something wrong with it. At that time ( about XX/XX/2017 ) I told the company I was going to have to buy another vehicle and I would not be able to pay a big payment or be able to fix the vehicle. They would'nt lower the payment enough for me to afford. I then told them that I can't pay. They then started calling and calling, I told them the same thing over and over again. They finally stopped calling. While checking my credit report, I noticed they had sold the loan to another lender. I never got any notification of that. I called Mariner finance and they told me who they sold it to ( I don't remember the name of the company ) but I called that company and they told me they had sold the loan to another company, so I called that company and they said they sold the loan as well. I never got notification from anyone, not Mariner Finance, or the other 3 companies who bought the loan. I did get a phone call early last year from someone telling me that I owed them for the vehicle, but I told them not to call me anymore and that I was not paying because they are not holding the lien on the vehicle. Mariner Finance is still holding the lien on the vehicle. I'm not sure who to pay for the remainder of what I owe on the vehicle and I am not sure who should be holding the lien. I am not paying someone and then not getting a lien release from someone else. This is a very confusing situation. I know I have rights and I am sure that someone should have let me know what was going on with the vehicle.

My wages are currently being garnished by Mariner Finance by order of court which began with the first payment on XX/XX/year> and the last payment on XX/XX/year>. Mariner is not updating this info or showing my correct new balance due amount or payment amounts or payment dates. All XXXX credit bureaus have a wide range of information not even close to one another and its severely damaging my credit score. I have disputed the account over XXXX now with XXXX and my account fails to be updated or removed from my report. Even after sending them proof of payments and total amount paid ( copies of the court order and copies of my paystubs showing the garnishments ) Mariner finance also has yet to provide me with updated balances or a ledger of payments after 4 months of taking my wages, I think they are highly unprofessional and their work is sloppy.

This account is fraudulent. I did a settlement with Mariner, and I do not owe Mariner any balance. I did an online dispute with XXXX, and they did not address my request for the removal or XXXX balance on negotiated account.
When I disputed, they changed the reported balance from {$460.00} to {$230.00}, instead of a XXXX balance.
They continue to affect my score and as per the Fair Credit Reporting Act and my financial counselor this is illegal practice.
