On XX/XX/year> at XXXX XXXX, using Coinbase, I sold all of the shares of the cryptocurrency XXXX by XXXX ( Transaction reference code XXXX ). The subtotal for what I received for selling my XXXX was {$360.00}, with an actual total of {$350.00}, and it was transferred out of XXXX and to my Coinbase account.
My Coinbase account was set up with a previous phone number of mine that I no longer have access to, and in order to withdraw the {$350.00} from my Coinbase account and put it into my XXXX XXXX account, I have to verify my identity with an SMS verification code that can only be sent to this old phone number. I reached out to customer support to verify my identity with pictures of my drivers license and pictures of my face. I was told that it would take only XXXX minutes to verify, and that I would receive an email with the verification results. As of XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/year>, I have not yet received an email to continue the verification process. Online, Coinbase claims a wait time of up to 24 hours ; yet I still have no response. No human can be reached, nothing has been done to help my case no matter how many times I reach out for help, and I can not get my money from them because they will not help me.
I have reached out to customer service, and keep getting put in an endless loop of a robot telling me to wait for a representative, and then the cycle repeating OR they drop my case when the estimated wait time runs out. There is no way I can call a human agent through this service because of the old phone number linked to my account, and the automated service is not handling my case. The conversation below was with their customer service AI. After reading about this exact same issue and mistreatment from numerous other Coinbase users, I decided to file a complaint with the CFPB in order to get Coinbase to handle my case, and allow me to retrieve the money from my account. Included are photos of my drivers license and face in order to prove my identity and ownership of the account.

I upgraded my phone and tried to access my Coinbase account. I was able to sign in but there was a restriction placed on my acoiunt so I could not do any transactions. I tried to call but literally after XXXX had to go to sleep. I tried for the next 2 days to use there live agent chat and chatted via text to almost XXXX different people who kept asking to repeat what I told the prior person. I followed there instructions with a photo ID selfie verification and also changed my password. The restriction was never lifted. They asked me to do it again. I did and still no removal of the access restriction. Ive spent now over XXXX hours dealing with this and as a busy business as physician, single father of XXXX, I dont have anymore time to waste.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding Coinbases withholding of my funds, totaling {$24000.00}, since XX/XX/year>. Despite being a long-time Coinbase customer with a verified account and engaging in only legitimate business activities, I have been provided with no timeline, explanation, or assurance as to when I will be able to access my own funds.
On XX/XX/year>, I attempted to withdraw {$24000.00}, which was immediately flagged by Coinbase and placed under a " review '' process. I was assigned a case number of XXXX, but the only information I received was that my account is under review. No details have been provided about the reason for this hold or any expected timeline for resolution, which leaves me with significant financial uncertainty.
This delay is causing severe financial strain, as I have credit card bills due soon, and any delay in paying these bills will result in financial loss from late fees and interest charges. My funds have been held without any clarity or explanation, and Coinbase 's silence on this matter is unacceptable for a platform that advertises itself as reliable and customer-centric.
I urge you to prioritize this case and release my funds immediately. I am more than willing to provide any additional information required to facilitate the review process, but withholding my funds without transparency or a clear path to resolution is both stressful and financially damaging.

I discovered I was unable to access my account. I had somehow been signed out completely. I attempted to sign back into account but was told I need a two step verification which would only be achieved by submitting documentation ( drivers license ) and personal photo. I received an email stating my identification was verified and to sign in through the email to the account making sure to update the verification process. I signed in using username and password however the system stated I needed additional verification to access the account. I tried multiple times to contact customer service but was unable because a sign in is required to speak with customer service, which I can not accomplish because the system will not allow me to sign in.

Dear Sir or Madam : I am a victim of fraud from Coinbase wherein my money was taken by Coinbase through a wire transfer from XXXX XXXX XXXX. Money was sent from my XXXX XXXX XXXX personal checking account.
On XX/XX/XXXX for {$55000.00} On XX/XX/XXXX for {$25000.00} On XX/XX/XXXX for {$50000.00} Total of {$130000.00} I initially filed a fraud complaint against XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX with the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. Upon investigation by the NJ Division, it was proven by XXXX XXXX XXXX that MY MONEY WAS TRANSFERRED BY WIRE TO COINBASE. I also have proof to show that Coinbase has received the funds.
However, I have requested Coinbase to return my funds and Coinbase is fraudulently holding my monies and is refusing to return the amount of {$130000.00} deposited by a wire transfer. The funds were wired : My account is with XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. From XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, I transferred the funds to XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX which holds the funds for Coinbase. In sum, I am a victim of fraud either from XXXX XXXX XXXX or Coinbase or the XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX ; they are playing the blame game with me and I am getting nowhere. On XX/XX/2023 I called Coinbase support because I had purchased XXXX token and value was not in my coinbase wallet. Tech support helped me find some of my XXXX tokens. This is where things got weird. I had been holding onto XXXX XXXX tokens since they showed up in my coinbase wallet. I just assumed it was an airdrop or was sent to my wallet but I cant find the transaction Hash. So I just left them in my wallet. Well during my tech support call with Coinbase, Coinbase told me to delete and redownload the app. Which I did. They also told me to renter my XXXX word Seed phrase which I did. But when I was logged into coinbase wallet. My XXXX tokens had Vanished. I hope my call to coinbase wasnt spoofed with is a hacking thing. But if I wasnt spoofed and someone didnt steal my funds. Then during my call with coinbase they stole my tokens. Its been very stressful loosing my tokens. Which at the time was only a {$2000.00} value but for holding them for so long why did the fund disappear. I think coinbase took my tokens because of a weird guess is. Is your holding XXXX it should be at a higher value and I was gifted those tokens or airdropped. Coinbase doesnt want to believe that those tokens are worth more and have not been honoring the value of these tokens. So they stool them. But I will not stop till this situation has been resolved. They keep closing my case # XXXX trying to say I didnt have the funds because I dont have a ether scan hash to search my value but its because I never swapped or moved or sold those tokens in my wallet. I believe the fraud my tokens. Im going up against a firm that can edit and change info so its going to be hard but I have been saving screen shots of my investment since I began with XXXX investing and I would like them to return my funds back into my wallet! This isnt fair to the investor. And I hope I wasnt spoofed and my funds was stolen by a hacker. XX/XX/2024, my Coinbase account was hacked, and over {$65000.00} was stolen. Despite having two-factor authentication ( 2FA ) and biometric security enabled, my account was compromised. I pay for a data monitoring service that confirmed my personal information was never leaked or found on the dark web, suggesting the breach occurred internally at Coinbasesomething local law enforcement also believes. Heres where it gets frustrating : I reported the incident to Coinbase just an hour after the theft, but their support team was unhelpful and lacked technical expertise. They told me they would " investigate, '' but all I received were generic responses. Their policy? They cant reverse or reimburse transactions confirmed on the blockchain, leaving me high and dry. Coinbase 's user agreements limit their liability, meaning you can't take them to court for breaches like this. Instead, you're stuck with small claims court or arbitrationhardly a fair solution for such a significant loss. As an institution, Coinbase does not stand by its users. The risks of investing on their platform far outweigh any potential rewards.

Complaint What Happened |
I wish to complain about Coinbase Inc. I was a victim of scam fraud by bsxstar.com through Coinbase Inc for the amount of XXXX. When i new that i was scammed i immediately contacted Coinbase Inc and was told that there nothing could be done about my problem. I believe that this response in unfair especially for the amount of money that is involved. I suffered from XXXX from this situation until now because i have been waiting for their response but it has been months of settling from them but they refused and closed my case. I am so hopeless and I have decided to bring up my case in your institution hoping you could help me. I was ready to take my life because i have been refused to be helped by the Authorities and by Bank companies and especially the Coinbase company but i believe that there is still hope for me.
