Archi-Tectonics is an architectural design firm founded in 1994 by Winka Dubbeldam, with offices in New York City, Amsterdam/ the Netherlands, and Hangzhou/ China.
HOW WE THINK
We love to build. We operate at multiple scales of investigation, ranging from object design or architectural and building scale, to the planning of complex urban systems. Our methodology is deeply committed to research and extensive prototyping throughout all design stages. This analytical approach allows us to develop highly optimized, intelligent structures and morphologies, while promoting the emergence of a singular character and identity for each project.
The wide range of completed work worldwide is a testament to the strength of our research-based approach, and our ambition to create genuinely innovative typologies, spaces and materials, as well as uniquely evocative and transformative environments - Architecture that matters.
Our focus is not on style or a recognizable “signature” but on a process that combines creativity with technological advancements, resulting in what we call “poetic precision". We value performance over form, design intelligence over style.
We create great value for our clients and users, by providing efficient, sustainable, and at the same time strikingly beautiful solutions, often prominently enhancing the brand identity of our commercial clients. All our projects have proven to multiply the Return on Investment already at the time of completion.

HOW WE WORK
While intuition and skill remain at the core of our design process, we supplant and supplement this knowledge with advanced digital form-generating and prototyping tools, merging into what we consider Digital Craft. This methodology allows us to expand beyond accepted architectural convention, opening the possibility of genuine innovation and discovery, while benefiting from the extensive construction knowledge we have developed over the years.
Our work occupies a space between machine-like intelligence and organic embodiment. We like to think that our designs have “character”, an identity that helps brand our client’s company concept, as well as create resale value. We are proud that our clients typically report a multiple return on investment (200 -300%). |
