Complaint What Happened On XX/XX/XXXX, my wife and I ordered a Tesla XXXX XXXX with an anticipated delivery date of XXXX XXXX. However, we were initially excited to learn that our delivery date had been moved up to mid XX/XX/XXXX. While we were excited, we needed to figure what to do with our currently leased vehicle which was not due back until XX/XX/XXXX. Furthermore, as we saw in the news, Tesla was looking to complete sales by year end we were offered an " incentive '' to take delivery before the end of the year. The " incentive '' was {$3700.00} ( which went up to {$7000.00} a week after we took delivery of our car ). With that being said we were somewhat disappointed we were not offered the {$7000.00} " incentive. '' Fast forward to Friday XX/XX/XXXX, and we come to learn that our vehicle 's price had now dropped from {$64000.00} to {$55000.00} ( plus tax ) nationally. Since then I have made two phone calls to Tesla to express my frustration and feelings of being defrauded by the company. The 2nd phone call I waited 2.5 hours on hold just to speak to a representative. Both representatives ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - In-Bound Team XXXX Region ) explained that there is nothing that they can do and they understand my frustration. Nonetheless, I feel as if this " incentive '' scam was an effort to milk as much money out of customers before the prices would change in less than 30 days. Even more frustrating, after a review of my paperwork, I could have delayed picking up the vehicle for 30 days without penalty ; and since my delivery date was XX/XX/XXXX, I could have delayed picking up my vehicle and fallen under the new pricing. While I do understand that prices change, this effort to " incentivize '' customers to take an early delivery of their car so they could make more money from my family, feels like a complete scam. When I asked how this creates any type of brand loyalty, both representatives were unable to answer my question with any honest sincerity.

Complaint What Happened When I returned the car after the stipulated lease time, Tesla charged my bank account with no information about the details. I wrote to them 3 times and there is no response. It is very difficult to get information by phone. Before returning the car, Tesla asked my provide detailed pictures of the car. They estimated {$200.00} of curb rash and sent me an invoice for {$1000.00}. This included {$200.00} curb rash, {$360.00} deposition fees. I did not understand the rest but I was told that I will be provided more information. When I returned the car on XXXX XXXX, Tesla informed me that I will charged {$3800.00} with no information at all. Upon returning the vehicle on XXXX XXXX, Tesla also revoked my access to the portal without any notice and hence I lost all the lease related documents. On XX/XX/XXXX, Tesla charged my bank account for {$3800.00}. I wrote to Telsa on XXXX and on XXXX with no response at all. This situation is very frustrating as there is no additional, or access to any documents to understand the charge. Moreover, Tesla had the time and details to review before the return of the vehicle. They only informed me about a curb rash for {$200.00}. They had time to review on XXXX XXXX when I took the car to them and failed to do so. Because if there were issues, then I could have solved it with insurance. My actual lease end is XX/XX/28. Tesla charging my bank with XXXX times more than the original estimate of {$200.00} with no information and without giving me access to cure it seems outline of line and a overreach of a large company on a consumer. Also, Tesla can not without notice revoke access with no avail access financial documents and contracts. Car VIN number is XXXX

Complaint What Happened copy of my letter to collection agency and Tesla Re : Tesla Ref : XXXX, XXXX XXXX Sir/Madam I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing in response to the claim you have filed against me regarding the return of a vehicle leased from Tesla. I would like to address each of the points you have raised as follows : 1. The car was in legal compliance with the state of New York 's Department of Motor Vehicles regulations. It met all the necessary requirements, including but not limited to registration, inspection ( which includes tire conditions ), and insurance. I have upheld my responsibility in ensuring that the vehicle was following the applicable laws during the term of the lease. 2. All the tires on the vehicle were in good shape. In fact, I had provided photographic evidence of the tires ' condition to Tesla prior to the return of the car. The tires were properly maintained and met the safety standards set forth by Tesla. The vehicle had only XXXX miles after 3 years. 3. At the time of return, Tesla accepted the car without stating any issues with the tires or any other aspect of the vehicle. If there were any concerns regarding the condition of the tires, it is reasonable to expect that Tesla would have communicated them during the return process. However, no such communication occurred, and I proceeded with the return based on the acceptance of the vehicle by Tesla. 4. It is important to note that Tesla requested the return of the vehicle to a specific location, which was not originally agreed upon in the lease agreement. As a result, I incurred the loss of a day 's work to fulfill their request and avoid any further complications. I acted in good faith and followed Tesla 's instructions, which resulted in financial and professional inconvenience for me. 5. I understand my claim for lost wages resulting from the decision to return the car to a location outside of the lease agreement. However, it is crucial to recognize that this decision was made at the request of Tesla, and I complied in an effort to address the situation efficiently. As a result, I incurred financial losses, including additional expenses and the time taken away from work, which directly impacted my ability to earn wages during that period. 6. Based on the aforementioned points, I firmly believe that the claim against me is without merit. I kindly request that you reconsider your position and withdraw the claim. If you persist in pursuing this matter, I will be left with no choice but to take legal action against Tesla and XXXX, XXXX XXXX. Complaint What Happened I placed an online order for a Tesla car. Reading through the website. They mentioned that they have {$250.00} non refundable fees, which I agreed to accept and wanted Tesla to finance the car. Their system would not let you continue with an order without first paying the {$250.00} then you can apply for financing. The website did not clearly indicate that approval for financing is not related to the {$250.00} non refundable deposit. I was denied credit and now i have choice of pay for the car cash or lose my {$250.00} deposit When I contacted Tesla, they stated that this is in the " agreement '' i clicked on to accept, which is really the fine print that no one reads, also the application designed to force you to pay the deposit before you get a decision on the financing. You can not even see your financing options or conditions before you pay that deposit. I think this might be legal by adding the fine print that no one reads but its unethical and a way to rob customers of a deposit.

Complaint What Happened I purchased a Tesla XXXX XXXX from Tesla 's XXXX, New York location on Friday XXXX XXXX. The car was purchased by fully paying for it by certified check. ( I had to use the " Car Lease '' option on the CFPB website as there is no other option to register my complaint. ) The car had been booked online on Tesla 's system in lieu of the delivery of a different car which had been booked months earlier for scheduled XXXX delivery but which had been delayed. On getting home I was shocked to discover that the " new '' car I had purchased had over XXXX miles on it and was obviously a demo car or a used car that the dealership had owned. The whole process to sign and take delivery at the Tesla XXXX location was extremely rushed. It was Friday evening ( around XXXX XXXX ) I was asked to sign a bunch a papers without any disclosure on what I was signing, was given no documents and was handed the car at sundown to drive home. At no point was it disclosed that the car has a certain mileage that I should know about and check. Tesla 's don't come with a standard odometer and I discovered the high mileage on the car by going to the Tesla App once I got home. I was extremely unhappy by this turn of events and contacted Tesla the next day ( Saturday XX/XX/XXXX ) to register my intent to return the car, At the same time I asked to get access to the paperwork for the car. Tesla claimed that the mileage was disclosed on the paperwork I signed. The taking delivery process was very rushed, I couldn't read the details of the contract and it was not even given to me until I asked for it again later. Bottom line, I did not expect to buy a new car but get one with over XXXX miles on it. Tesla said they had put in a price reduction of {$560.00} for the demo car. I told them that the same is not acceptable to me. The car is over XXXX miles or 6 % into the XXXX mile warranty in addition to wear and tear. A 1 % reduction in the car 's price is not reflective of those facts. I told them that I would like to return this car and wait for the NEW car we had ordered several months ago. I offered to return the car promptly to Tesla, by submitting that request in writing via email to the rep I was interfacing with, but have not heard back from them.

Complaint What Happened In XX/XX/XXXX, I leased a Tesla in downtown XXXX. This is XXXX and folks don't have garages with chargers. Tesla sales assured me that they were rapidly building a network of public chargers and it would not be a problem. As of today, XX/XX/XXXX there are no new Tesla chargers closer than XXXX, New York. Which means I need to drive XXXX miles round trip to charge the car... multiple times per week. So essentially XXXX XXXX of the miles allowed on the lease are used up to charge the car... .They should give me credit for that mileage as it is a substantial amount of the miles allowed under the lease. Since human beings are essentially unreachable at Tesla and my emails to XXXX are not returned, there is no way to get them to respond. thank you

Complaint What Happened I have leased a XXXX Tesla XXXX XXXX through Tesla Finance since XX/XX/XXXX. Accordingly, XXXX XXXX has my XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX checking account information and my authorization to deduct my monthly lease payments, which has been working without issue since XX/XX/XXXX. Notably for purposes of this complaint, however, I DO NOT subscribe to Teslas Full Self Driving ( Supervised ) service ( FSD ). Recently, in an effort to increase customer use of FSD ( and likely use the data generated by its use to improve the system and assist in XXXX attempts to release a robotaxi service ), Tesla has extended owners a free trial of FSD. I did not activate the trial or sign up for FSD during the trial period. However, on XX/XX/XXXX, Tesla Motors, apparently using my BofA checking account information on file with Tesla Finance, performed an unauthorized transaction for {$99.00} alongside my normal, authorized lease payment transaction. Upon information gleaned from an internet search, a similar {$99.00} unauthorized charge was applied to many additional Tesla owners and is ostensibly for FSD subscriptions. I reached out to Tesla Finance to inquire about the charge, but no one was available to answer my call. I was instead advised to email Tesla Finance, which I have done, but have not received an answer at the time of this writing. I have also disputed the {$99.00} unauthorized charge with XXXX and they are very responsively investigating. However, the investigation will understandably take several weeks. Given the facts that ( 1 ) Tesla has recently experienced sales and revenue slowdowns and is undergoing large layoffs, and ( 2 ) that many Tesla customers are apparently experiencing similar unauthorized charges, I recommend CFPB investigate how serious and widespread this issue is. Whether through error during layoff chaos or something more nefarious ( such as trying to make up for revenue slowdowns ), Tesla maXXXX be collecting unauthorized charges from customers on a large scale.

Complaint What Happened I initially placed my Tesla Energy order for solar to be installed at my home on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX 's vendor XXXX XXXX approved my loan application on XX/XX/XXXX, to fund the project. Tesla installed the solar equipment, and all inspections were completed by XX/XX/XXXX. After installation, I expected to start repaying the loan I'd secured. After several months of contacting Tesla and XXXX XXXX, I provided a copy of the deed recorded with the county clerk, a piece of supporting documentation required for my loan that I'd provided XXXX XXXX on numerous occasions. The last time I interacted with XXXX XXXXXXXX was on XX/XX/XXXX. Both Tesla and XXXX XXXX were uncommunicative with me until XX/XX/XXXX, when a member of Tesla 's Energy Escalation and Resolution Team reached out to me. Tesla informed me that my loan with Sunlight Finacial wasn't funded " due to unforeseen circumstances. '' As an alternative, I was offered an internal loan product by Tesla that would save me money. The loan application process was completed by XX/XX/XXXX, due to unreliable and unclear communication on Tesla 's part. After securing the second loan, the first bill was incorrect by {$3200.00}, and the payment amount did not match any statement that I'd received from Tesla. Thankfully my bank was able to reverse the charge and limit the damage this could've caused. This incorrect billing amount has been debited from my bank account twice, and Tesla is still looking into resolving the issue. Tesla has not been able to provide me with a timeline on when my account will b e corrected and when I can resume regular monthly payments. Tesla also has been unable to confirm whether they've removed the autopay authorization from my account to prevent further erroneous charges hitting my bank account. This ordeal has been a protracted 16-month disaster.
