29 CFR 1926.405(g)(1)(iii)(A): Employer did not ensure temporary flexible extension cords were not used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure; Location: 123 William Street, New York, NY 10038, Ground Floor Lobby behind Newspaper Stand. A). During renovation project effecting the Lobby area of the first floor, employees had utilized a flexible extension cord drawing power from a hard wired, square metal "1900" junction box, and wired directly into the bare, exposed wires to energize the exhaust fan of the Newspaper Stand. Everest employees were exposed to this hazard as the hazard was within the staging area of Everest materials and tools. NOTE: BECAUSE ABATEMENT OF THIS VIOLATION IS ALREADY DOCUMENTED IN THE CASE FILE, THE EMPLOYER NEED NOT SUBMIT CERTIFICATION OR DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT OF THIS VIOLATION AS NORMALLY REQUIRED BY 29 CFR 1903.19. |
