Citation text line OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards. a) Worksite: Employee involved in tree trimming activity slipped while standing on branch. The employee was working at a height of approximately 18 feet and contacted power lines. Fall protection, such as personal fall arrest system was not employed on, or about, 12/21/11. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, the feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to follow the American National Standard, ANSI Z133.1-2006, Safety Requirements for Arbocultural Operations: 3.1.1 Tools and Equipment shall conform to the requirements of this standard. 3.1.2 Employers shall instruct their employees in the proper use, inspection, and maintenance of tools and equipment, including ropes and lines, and shall require that appropriate working practices be followed. 3.4.1 PPE shall be required when there is a reasonable probability of injury or illness that can be prevented by such protection.
